Optimizing Your Body For Fat Loss

Cardiovascular Training For Weight Loss

Probably the most misunderstood form of fat loss is cardiovascular training. The best way to use cardio to enhance your fat loss is interval training (I'll explain further below). There really is no need for long bouts of cardio endurance training for fat loss, and you need not worry about your "fat burning zone" in order to efficiently burn fat for fuel.

Interval training is short bursts of intense and demanding exercise performed anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Once your form starts to break, or become so bad that you might injure yourself, it is time to stop the exercise and let your body recover. Then you do it again. Generally, a good "burst" will get your heart rate between 90% - 100% of your heart rate maximum.

If you can perform a cardiovascular exercise for more than 1-2 minutes, then you aren't doing it anaerobically.
